Three-colour observations of U Cephei were obtained during a period when the system was comparatively undisturbed. Solutions are calculated both using a similar-ellipsoid and a Roche geometry. It is shown that the rate of change of intensity during the phases of total eclipse varies rapidly and that it is correlated with the more conspicuous light oscillations which occur in the deep part of the partial eclipse, between the phases -20° and -6°.
