Unno's (1967) theory of time-dependent convection in the stellar pulsation problem is briefly presented and tested on a series of Cepheid models. Short wavelength spatial oscillations in the thermal eigenfunctions and in the work integral, arising from the phase lag of the convective flux, are interpreted and are shown to be related to the local character of the convection theory. It is also shown that spatial oscillations play the determinant role in stability results in the region of the red edge of the Cepheid instability strip, as far as the thermal convection-pulsation coupling is concerned.
