Results of spectral observations are examined, which indicate the outflow of matter from AM Herculis and the formation of a circustellar envelope around the binary system. It is shown that the place of the formation of narrow peaks of emission lines varies with light variation. The properties of the radial velocity curves obtained between 1976 and 1981 are compared. It is found that the differences between the curves can be explained by a variation of the magnetic axis inclination of the white dwarf with respect to the line of sight. No periodicity in the variation of the axial inclination was observed.
