The generation of long and short waves is studied using one-dimensional numerical simulations with random initial conditions. The growth of short and long wave perturbations at the strongly nonlinear stage of gravitational instability is examined. The results are used to analyze the increase of inhomogeneous density which leads to the formation of large-scale objects such as galaxies, clusters, and superclusters.
