It is shown that cosmic gamma-rays can provide information on the origin of cosmic-ray particles. Cosmic-ray protons below about 10 GeV, which produce the majority of gamma-rays in the 300-5000 MeV region, are produced mainly in the Galaxy. Recent observations of changes in the spectral shape of the gamma-ray spectrum with changes in longitude and latitude support the idea of Galactic origin.
