A portion of the sky from ξ Per (l = 160°, b = -13°) to 24° west of ξ Per (l = 138°, b = -24°) has been explored at Hα with the Wisconsin large-aperture Fabry-Perot spectrometer. The faint H II region (Sivan No. 4) surrounding this O7 giant is found to have an even fainter outer halo that extends 13° (90 pc) to the west of the star. The Hα surface brightness of this H II halo is approximately 1.5×10-6erg cm-2s-1sr-1 (6R), implying an emission measure ≈27 cm-6pc and an rms electron density ≈0.5 cm-3. The ionized gas appears to be associated kinematically and spatially with the outer portions of an H I shell that is connected with the Perseus OB2 association.
