The distributions of spectral types of stars in 17 regions spread throughout the wing, the north-east outer arm, and the halo of the SMC are considered. The wing is found to contain a young stellar population (with dominant spectral type B) of evolutionary age 3 x 10 to the 7th yr which is progressively contaminated with the SMC old disk component toward the main body of the Cloud. The arm is shown to contain mainly A stars with a spectral type distribution resembling a stellar population of evolutionary age 10 to the 8th yr.
