Extensive photometry and redshift data for first-ranked cluster ellipticals are examined to test the suggestion (James et al., 1987) that there are large-scale streaming motions in the local universe. Two hypotheses are investigated: (1) that the Local Group's motion relative to the rich clusters is that determined from the cosmic microwave background (CMB) dipole; and (2) that the Local Group and the nearby rich clusters partake in a bulk streaming motion relative to the CMB. The present data seem to be consistent with rich clusters lying at rest relative to the CMB and not partaking in large-scale streaming.
