The monochromatic images of the H II region S296 taken with the UK
Schmidt telescope at the emission lines Hα+[N II], [S II], [O
III], and [O II] are presented, together with some composite images.
Based on these photographic images, the overall ionization structure of
the H II region is briefly considered.
