Objects moving too slowly to be meteors and more rapidly than asteroids may be natural earth satellites. Optical and radio frequency scannings have provided numerous observations, which when analyzed, can be used to compute various possible satellite orbits. The orbital elements of all known ephemeral fragments of the principal retrograde satellites are presented, including one which remains in orbit today. Natural satellites in direct semi-permanent orbits have also been observed and measured. Expressions have been derived for the complex mean motions of individual natural satellites, but records of earlier observations are still sought. Postulated effects on the ionosphere, magnetosphere, and lithosphere by these natural bodies have become more credulous, and the mechanism of satellite caused effects on near earth space has been explained.
