This work examines meteor swarms consisting of particles whose orbital elements differ slightly from one to another. It is shown that particles which could have been observed in the same meteor shower initially shift with respect to each other after some time because of secular perturbations so that their orbits approach the orbit of the earth at different times and at different points, i.e., they can no longer be observed as a single shower.
