The paper presents spectrophotometric measurements of 22 stars of the intermediate spectral classes F, G, and K, in the region of the sky around Capella in the wavelength range from 2400 to 4800 A. Ultraviolet observations and combined spectra are used to find the luminosity classes of the components of binaries. Concrete examples are used to show that the combined space and ground-based method of observations of star spectra can be effective in discovering an invisible high-temperature component of low luminosity in a binary system, and in establishing the presence of a giant or supergiant of intermediate or late class as one of the components of unresolved binaries.
