Detections are reported of the 3.3-micron emission feature in the nuclei of IC 4329A, and extreme Seyfert 1 galaxy, and NGC 5506, a narrow line X-ray galaxy which may contain a heavily obscured Seyfert 1 nucleus. It is thought probable that this feature originates in mantles on a population of small dust grains at temperatures around 300 K which may contribute substantially to the infrared continua of these galaxies. In the case of IC 4329A, evidence provided by the large width of the observed feature that the grains responsible could be located within the broad line region is discussed. Observations of NGC 5506 made around 10 microns are found to be compatible with the presence of significant absorption by silicate dust.
