Differential-rotation-induced instability that leads to the excitation of horizontal displacements of plasma components relative to each other is considered for the case of solar plasma. In particular, arguments are presented supporting the possibility that oscillations of neutral atoms relative to the ion-electron component could spontaneously form in cold parts of the upper solar corona.
