The annual European Geophysical Society General Assembly covers, among others, the field of planetary environments under the form of an open session on Planetary Magnetospheres, Ionospheres and Thermospheres, complemented by a session on Planetary Radio Emissions. Both have encountered increasing success over the years, and the results presented at Edinburgh in 1992 (XVIIth General Assembly, sessions PS 16 and PS 19) were of high quality.
