Special receiving and recording equipment was developed for Project Vega so as to optimize the signal/noise ratio during acquisition of meteorological data from the balloons and to maximize the ratio interferometry accuracy. In the working band, the system has a phase-frequency characteristic curve linear to within 1 deg; four-bit signal coding is used. During the experiment, the balloon and flyby-craft signals were recorded simultaneously; the signal parameters were monitored and the scientific information discriminated in real time.
