Some aspects of periodically cycling orbits (elliptic orbits) for which the central force is due to the Sun are discussed. First physical and geometrical concepts needed for the development are introduced. Then, the matter is particularized to heliocentric orbits, considered relative to the plane of the Earth's orbit around the Sun. The material is dealt with in accessible form to non-expert readers.
