Recent results showing multifractal dimensions of attractors at the transition to a chaotic state for small-aspect-ratio cells of mercury are presented. Also, as the Rayleigh number is increased up to 10 to the 11th in He gas, a transition from a chaotic state to a 'soft turbulent state' and for a higher value of the control parameter to a 'hard turbulent state' is proposed.
