The influence of Wolf-Rayet stars on the ambient interstellar medium and
on heavy element enrichment of the Galaxy is reviewed. Their strong
stellar winds provide energy, gas and dust in huge quantities, and can
explain abundances and isotope ratios found in supernovae, cosmic rays
and meteorites.
