The authors present 8 - 13 μm spectrophotometry of two Magellanic cloud H II regions, LMC N44A and SMC N88A. The former shows a prominent silicate emission feature and resembles many galactic H II regions, whilst the latter shows no evidence of silicate dust. The implications for the composition of dust particles in the clouds and the species responsible for the 2200 Å feature are discussed.
