The propagation of an MHD-wave beam through the anisotropic polar ionosphere is analyzed theoretically. Spatial relationships of the amplitude and phase of different components of the electromagnetic field are obtained in a wide range of periods for two models of the ionosphere. The role of the earth's conductivity in the formation of the spatial characteristics of the field is shown to be significant. Intrinsic electric-mode waves in the atmospheric waveguide are investigated. The existence of regions with phase velocities of about 100 km/s is shown.
