The authors consider the interaction of a supersonic conical gaseous beam with a quiet medium gas. They derive an equation for the beam braking distance and also find an equation describing the motion of the gaseous cloud inflated by the beam. Comparison of the theory with observational data enables to put some restrictions on the values of the parameters of extragalactic jets.
