Charge exchanges are important for the ionization balance of many ions in either warm coronal plasmas or photoionized plasmas of astrophysics. Lines produced by charge exchange have been discovered in the spectrum of nebulae and probably the solar chromosphere. Introduction of charge exchanges modifies earlier views about the structure of some astrophysical objects. The nebulae appear as valuable "laboratories" to check theoretical charge exchange cross sections at very low energy. It is suggested that the detection of charge exchange lines in the solar spectrum would provide new insights into the dynamics of the interface between the chromosphere and the corona. It is pointed out that charge exchanges between heavy particles may have significant effects in the ionization front of some nebulae.
