Gravitational perturbations are considered in a standard model universe filled with weakly interacting, finite-mass neutrinos and a radiation-dominated plasma. By including the density perturbations in the neutrino gas, one obtains a different law for the evolution of adiabatic perturbations in the plasma. For scalar perturbations, an initial deviation from the background metric will be damped by the kinetic mechanism. The dependence of the damping decrement on the perturbation wave vector is determined.
