Bow Waves, Herbig-Haro Objects, Radio Jets (Astronomy), Balmer Series, Forbidden Transitions, Pre-Main Sequence Stars

Scientific paper

Studies of Herbig-Haro (HH) objects and Young Stellar Object (YSO) jets are reviewed. The relationship between YSO jets and HH objects is discussed. The shock system which forms at the head of a jet is examined, focusing on those objects which have jets pointing towards the bowshock apex. It is suggested that YSO jets are the source of a significant fraction of HH objects.
