Scientific paper

The theory of general relativity is used to study the homogeneous
cosmological model Bianchi 9 with isometry group SO(3) near the
cosmological singularity. The Bogoyavlenskii-Novikov formalism is
introduced to explain the unusual behavior of the Liapunov exponent
associated with this chaotic system.
