The authors have searched for fluctuations in the near-infrared background in the K band (λ = 2.2 μm). The data show no statistically significant signal and imply 90% confidence level upper limits on brightness fluctuations of 7×10-20ergs s-1cm-2Hz-1sr-1 on scales from 10arcsec to 30arcsec and 3×10-20ergs s-1cm-2Hz-1sr-1 on scales from 60arcsec to 300arcsec. The implications of these measurements on models of primeval galaxies are discussed.
