Two explicit closed-form representations of Chandrasekhar's H-functions
H(z) are obtained characterizing transfer of radiation in an active
amplifying medium corresponding to xi greater than one. The basic
properties of these representations are derived and values of the
H-function are approximately computed for a range of cases.
