Photometric elements are presented, based on new V and R observations, of the astrophysically important binary EK Cephei. The light-curve analysis supports the recent conclusion of Khaliullin (1983), who measured a rate of advance of periastron of 0.076°/yr. The authors' rate is 0.082°/yr. A study of the system's evolutionary state reveals that both components are zero-age main-sequence objects of chemical composition (X,Z; 0.66, 0.037).
