Precise optical positions of 50 extragalactic radio sources between -45° and +5° declination have been uniformly derived from Schmidt plates relative to reference stars of the Perth 70 Catalogue. The mean internal error is 0arcsec.19 in right ascension and 0arcsec.21 in declination. The external error is estimated at 0arcsec.23 to 0arcsec.37 in both coordinates by accounting for errors contributed by the reference stars, errors of the systematic differences between the Perth 70 and FK4 catalogues and errors of the FK4 system itself. It is concluded that the radio survey is well tied to the FK4 system. Three new identifications of optical counterparts are reported, others are confirmed.
