We construct a simple theory of precession and nutation of Venus, referred to the inertial system defined by the ecliptic and dynamical equinox of J 2000.0. Using the recenly published dynamical parameters, we find a precession rate of -7828.6144 arcsec/cy, corresponding to a period of 16 555 yr. Arguments, amplitudes and periods of the long-term nutations are given in TABLE 1. The short-term nutations, the adopted value of the dynamical oblateness and the mean obliquity are discussed and the results given in TABLEs 2-4.
