The angular momentum balance of the Earth-Moon-Sun system has been refined using the most recent value of the decrease in the Moon's mean motion obtained by lunar laser ranging. It has been proved that the decrease in the second zonal geopotential harmonic J2, detected by LAGEOS LR, fits the angular momentum budget well. The dynamics at the Earth's core-mantle boundary is assumed to be responsible for dJ2/dt.
