An atlas is presented of several selected regions in the optical spectrum of CH Cyg during the period September 1977 - July 1986, illustrating the spectral variations of the line profiles during the whole outburst. The light variations in the V and U magnitudes are compared with those observed from IUE in the near and far ultraviolet and the reason for the observed discrepancy between the visual magnitude observed from the ground and that obtained with the FES aboard IUE at epochs near to the end of the outburst are discussed. The radial velocities measured from May 1985 to June 1987 are also presented.
