The paper presents a model which explains the kinematic behavior of the solar neighborhood as a superposition of two stellar systems, which are identified with the well known stellar populations I and II. The most representative parameters are calculated for several samples in the solar neighborhood, and they support our present knowledge about the galactic structure.
