The presence of Al-26 in the interstellar medium and of excess Mg-26 in the Allende meteorite is discussed. The possibility that the source of the Al-26 resides in the center of the Galaxy or that the Mg-26 results from radioactive decay of Al-26 deposited into the forming solar system from a nearby supernova are considered. It is suggested that the Mg-Al correlation observed in Allende minerals may be a manifestation of cosmic chemical memory of the ejection of matter by supernovas and other stars.
