Spectroscopy at 0.3 Å resolution of the Type Ia supernova 1986G in NGC 5128 has resolved the Na absorption due to NGC 5128 into four components with velocities of 374, 412, 453, and 483 km s-1. A fit to the line profiles shows each component to have a column density of ≈1013cm-2. The absorption is found to agree well with the velocity structure of the ionized gas in the disk of NGC 5128, and is interpreted to arise from a line of sight that passes through the entire disk of NGC 5128. Interstellar diffuse bands at λλ5780.4, 5797.0, 6283.9, and 6613.6 Å are also positively identified as arising in the dust lane.
