The authors have monitored three line profile variables or 53 Per stars and one broad line star for light variations. The observations comprise about 750 measurements of each star and its comparison spread over 28 nights in two seasons. From these results the authors detect light variability in all programme stars with semi-amplitudes ranging from 0.8 to 8.0 millimag. The coherent periods detected do not agree with those found from the line profile variability. The authors discuss possible reasons for this discrepancy.
