The spectra of Nova Vul 1984-2 are discussed. They are like the spectra of other novae near maximum of light, but Nova Vul 1984-2 is a typical slow nova. The most unusual spectroscopic feature of this nova seems to be the relative strength of Mg II and Mg I lines. As turbulent mixing between the white dwarf and the accreted material can lead to CNO enrichments, such a mixing of core matter can explain the overabundance of Mg if one assumes a massive O-Ne-Mg white dwarf.
