The restrictions imposed by thermal conductivity on the gas distribution in a cD galaxy's gravitational field in the framework of the hydrostatic model are considered. A comparison of the possibility of existence of the hydrostatic regime in cD galaxies and giant ellipticals is carried out. It is shown that for the gas parameters, suggested earlier when interpreting the X-ray data on cD galaxies, steep temperature and density gradients must exist in the galaxy's center. The analysis of the gas density gradient far away from the center of M87 indicates the existence of an extended halo.
