The ultracompact (UC) HII regions are classified as optically thin or
optically thick at radio wavelengths depending on the flatness of the
spectral energy distribution at long wavelengths. We present a
comparative study between the two classes that we made reviewing their
near-infrared properties, taken from the literature.
