During 2004, SuperWASP-North observed 6.7 million stars of V=8-15mag for up to 5 months with the aim of identifying new bright transiting exoplanets. With such a huge volume of data, a creative yet thorough approach to transit detection was required. An adapted Box-Least-Squares transit search algorithm, `hunter', plus sophisticated filtering procedure were developed to extract genuine transits and reject data artifacts and astrophysical false alarms as far as possible. The 2006 Radial Velocity monitoring campaign to follow up some of the best planetary candidates led to the announcement of WASP-1b and WASP-2b, the first two exoplanets to be discovered by a UK-led team.
