This XMM program is aimed at continuing the monitoring the fading phases of the Anomalous X-ray Pulsar (AXP), XTE J1810-197. The transient behaviour of this source, unique amongst AXPs, will make it possible to study its properties over an unprecedented range of flux levels and energies. This source might thus represent a ``Rosetta stone'' for our understanding of the nature and emission mechanism of AXPs, and of a unified scheme for isolated neutron stars (NSs) encompassing apparently dissimilar classes, such as radio pulsars, dim NSs and central compact objects (CCOs) in supernova remnants.
