RDCS 1252.9-2927 is a massive and very X-ray luminous cluster of
galaxies at z=1.237. After a description of the discovery and the
following ACS and ISAAC observations of this cluster, I introduce
briefly the photometric plane and the colour gradients for early-type
galaxies, underlining the importance of studing them at high redshift.
