The evolution of the cosmological scale factors is studied in a five-dimensional cosmology that has a nonvanishing divergence of the energy-momentum tensor. Cosmologies driven by pure radiation, dust, and the false vacuum are studied, and the results are compared with a standard Friedman cosmology and with cosmologies governed by the Einstein equations in five dimensions.
