It is generally believed that the sun and the planets condensed from a cloud on interstellar matter about 4.6 billion years ago. The composition of the cloud is thought to be similar to the composition of Jupiter's atmosphere at the present time. The author tries to understand the evaporation of volatile ices during the first period of icy satellite accretion.
