Dwarf Novae:Polarimetry, Dwarf Novae:Spectra

Observations ot the mysterious dwarf novae are being pursued with great vigour at La Silla. In addition to earlier photometric observations (cf. Messenger No. 5, p. 2, and No. 14, p. 15), Dr. Rolf Schoembs ot the Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Munich University (FRG) has now obtained series of consecutive spectra and polarimetric data tor two southern, prominent representatives ot this stellar class. An early look at the polarimetry enabled Dr. Schoembs to set upper limits for the polarization, and the speftra showed unexpefted fhanges trom night to night.
