SIRTF - the Space Infrared Telescope Facility - is now on a fast track leading to a launch in December, 2001. This poster will summarize recent progress and current status, including the following highlights: 1.SIRTF appears as a new start in the 1998 federal budget. 2.The SIRTF Team has been completed with the selection of Caltech's Infrared Processing and Analysis Center (IPAC) as the home of the SIRTF Science Center. 3.SIRTF has been authorized to use a larger launch vehicle within the Delta class, permitting an increase in the volume of the cryogenic system. The cryogenic lifetime of SIRTF could therefore be as great as 5 years, considerably longer than the basic 2.5 year lifetime requirement. 4.A time allocation policy has been defined which guarantees community access - via peer review - to >75% of the observing time during the first 2.5 years of science operations and >80% of the observing time during the remainder of the cryogenic phase of the mission. Over the next year, the SIRTF team will complete the final design of the observatory and start the acquisition and construction of flight hardware. In addition, the flight and science operations systems will be defined. SIRTF will be an observatory for the entire scientific community.
