VBLUW photometry of the high-latitude eclipsing binary V748 Cen, which has been tentatively identified with the transient X-ray source Cen X-4, is reported. It is found that the light curve is apparently not symmetric about the eclipse and that an extended system consisting of a shell and gas streams has an important effect on the binary's photometric properties. The nature of the binary and its two components is considered.
