Virgo Galactic Cluster, Line Spectra, Radial Velocity, Red Shift

Scientific paper

Radial velocities have been measured with the 6-m telescope for faint blue galaxies in the central region of the Virgo cluster. There is a marked excess of objects with redshifts typical of Coma cluster members. Evidence indicates that the Coma and A1367 clusters are surrounded by a supercorona populated by low luminosity emission line galaxies. The supercorona contains roughly 10,000 galaxies, is about 45 deg in diameter, and has a density contrast of about 6 relative to a uniform distribution.
