The photographic magnitudes given in the Zwicky Catalogue are found to have systematic errors that depend primarily on the mean surface brightness of the galaxy. Transformation formulas are given that convert the Zwicky magnitudes to the Holmberg system and to the BT system with a significantly lower scatter than previously published transformation formulas give.
